Atandi Unveils Ksh 4.8 Trillion Budget as Kenya Eyes Economic Growth, Jobs and Development in 2026/27
Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson, Samuel Atandi, has outlined the key highlights of the Ksh 4.8 trillion Budget for the 2026/2027 Financial Year, describing it as a people-centered plan aimed at accelerating economic growth, creating jobs, and improving the livelihoods of millions of Kenyans.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings, Hon. Atandi emphasized that the budget is firmly anchored on President William Ruto's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and Kenya's development blueprint, Vision 2030.

Among the major winners in the budget are agriculture, education, healthcare, infrastructure, affordable housing, and support for small and medium enterprises. The allocation is expected to boost food production, strengthen healthcare services, expand access to quality education, and create thousands of employment opportunities for young people across the country.

Hon. Atandi noted that the budget seeks to empower ordinary Kenyans by directing resources to sectors that have the greatest impact on household incomes and economic stability. Increased investments in roads, energy, digital connectivity, and housing are also expected to stimulate business growth and attract more investments.

The Budget Committee Chair has received praise for his leadership in steering the budget-making process, with many observers noting that the proposed allocations reflect a careful balance between fiscal responsibility and the need for development. His briefing highlighted Parliament's commitment to ensuring public funds are utilized efficiently and transparently for the benefit of all Kenyans.

As the country looks ahead to the new financial year, the Ksh 4.8 trillion budget is being viewed as a strategic roadmap aimed at sustaining economic recovery, empowering communities, and laying a stronger foundation for long-term prosperity. Hon. Atandi's stewardship of the process has positioned him as a key voice in shaping Kenya's economic future.
